Love of the Horse

O'Sheas - "Oh the love of a horse..."

Stable Updates:

Presidential Style - Filly by Presidential Ball from Cosmic Quest. A half-sister to Cosmic Illusion owned by Russell and Heather Steel and trained by Nicky to win 8 races before being exported to the United States in 2006. Back in work, a big filly and has needed time to mature.

Copy My Past - 3 Br g Live Or Die-Miss Alliance
Back at the races with strong run at Manawatu on 17 March and a win at the same meeting on Sunday 20 March. Has always shown promise and is now living up to that.

Serene Queen - 3 Bl f Dream Vacation-Becalm Lobell. Currently at the workouts and learning the game.

Hazel Brogden - 2 B f P-Forty-Seven-Miss Hazel. Bred and owned by Graeme and Judy Bowen stepping up to the workouts with a view to qualifying.

Precious Mach - Back at the races on Friday 18 March with a brave second. Should go on with it now after a short freshen up.

Captain Gibbs - Has always had leg problems so has been retired from racing.

Miss invasion - Is currently having a short break. She has been plagued with feet problems and has suffered another set back to is a "work in progress" at the present time.

Landora's Jewel - Has suffered a few aches and pains so has been turned out for a short spell.

Loki Brogden - Is a nice horse but struggles to get his brain around his ability. However, at the present time (March 2011) he is 14th on the eligibility for the Harness Jewels.

Staff Updates:

Emma has qualified a horse for the "Horse of the Year" competition for the first time and has taken time off from the stable to attend. This is one of her passions and she has worked hard to achieve this.

We wish her all the best and hope that she enjoys herself for the week away.

Alan - the latest member Alan Shandof the White Star Stables team is coming to the end of his tenure as a Junior Driver. Whilst the opporutnities for driving have not been many since his move from the South Island , he has had a couple of drives on Wealthy Warrior for Nicky with limited success. Alan always has a smile on his face and is very good with owners and trainers alike. He is a welcome addition to the team.

Jordan - Still working towards gaining his Junior licence in the near future. In the meantime, he has claimed the drive (in work and workouts) on Benji Maguire and will not let anyone else get near him.

Mac Robinson - Mac continues to assist Nicky every Wednesday morning. He qualified to the semi-finals of the Amateur Drivers Series for the first time. This was a huge thrill for Mac. He owns Bettors Image for this reason and while he has driven him in Amateur Drivers events, the horse has also raced in standard tote races with Nicky driving.

Syndicate Horses:

Benji Maguire and Secret Love had their first starts recently both at Alexandra Park, Auckland.

Benji was 7th in his debut but by her own admission, Nicky said she drove him quite negatively. He was due to have another start at Auckland but came down with a cold so had to be scratched. He subsequently ran in a workout at Cambridge Raceway on Saturday 19 March and ran well and may have another race start at Cambridge on the 24th March. Keep a watch on the information on our home page for stable runners.

Secret Love was 6th in her debut at Alexandra Park. While she was a little green on the turn into the home straight, she fought to the line well and kept trying. Nicky is to find a suitable race for her either a 2yr old fillies race or a maiden fillies and mares race. Keep a watch on the information on our home page for stable runners.
