White
Star Stables is located in Cambridge New Zealand. Cambridge is renowned
for its large racing community and provides an ideal location for a
large racing stable like White Star Stables to flourish with access to first
rate facilities and the services of internationally renowned veterinarian's,
blacksmiths and chiropractors.
White
Star Stables is based on the Cambridge raceway, a first class racing
and training centre which consists of two tracks. An 800-metre beach sand
based jog track and a 1000-metre racetrack used on race days and for fast work. The raceway care-taking staff are responsible for
the maintenance of the two tracks, conditioning and resurfacing the
track on a daily basis ensuring an excellent surface for the horses
to work on.
White
Star Stables comprises of 14 large walk-in/out stalls, 10 horse tie-up,
tackroom, feed room, 13 well fenced and sheltered paddocks and large
car and truck parking area. Located within 2 kilometres of the Cambridge Raceway is the
Cambridge Jockey Club which provides access to an equine swimming
pool and a 1600-metre deep sand track for those horses that enjoy the
change of working under saddle. White Star Stables also offers an agistment
service on Nicky Chilcott's spelling block - Le Meridian.
On
a regular basis the team makes the short drive out to
Raglan to work on a 2400-metre stretch of beach where the horses can work and then walk, in the sea. This provides a great change to the
daily routine for the hoses, which they thoroughly enjoy. The beach
surface is excellent for working and conditioning the horses as it
tends not to jar up the legs while working them to peak
fitness and gaining optimum results.
